Trading forex and CFDs carries a high level of risk!

Overview

Libertex has been around since 1997, which already sets it apart from many newer CFD brokers. The setup is fairly straightforward: traders can use the broker's own Libertex platform, MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5. CFDs remain the main focus, while clients in supported European jurisdictions also have access to Libertex Invest for real stock investing.

One detail is easy to miss at first: the Libertex experience is not identical everywhere. European retail accounts come with tighter leverage limits and stricter promotion rules, while eligible international accounts can have higher leverage and more promotional features. That difference affects both risk and day-to-day trading conditions, so it is worth checking the legal entity before opening an account.

Pros

  • Operating since 1997
  • Libertex platform plus MT4 and MT5
  • More than 1,000 underlying instruments advertised on the main platforms
  • Hedging, scalping, news trading and automated MetaTrader strategies are supported

Cons

  • Withdrawal fees apply to several methods
  • Inactivity fees can apply
  • No external API for the proprietary platform
  • No dedicated Islamic CFD account

How we test Brokers ?

Trust and Safety

4.7/5

For European clients, the regulated entity is Indication Investments Ltd, a Cyprus Investment Firm supervised by CySEC under CIF license 164/12. The group also has a representative office in Germany registered with BaFin. Outside Europe, Libertex lists group entities under the FSCA in South Africa, the Financial Services Commission in Mauritius and the Vanuatu Financial Services Commission.

Safety factor Details
European regulator CySEC
CySEC licence 164/12
Other group regulators FSCA, FSC Mauritius and VFSC
Client fund segregation Available under the regulated European entity
Negative balance protection Available
KYC Required for regulated real-money accounts
Security SSL encryption, payment security controls and anti-fraud monitoring
Investor compensation Eligible CySEC retail clients can fall under the Investor Compensation Fund with protection up to EUR 20,000 under the scheme rules

Where a trader lives also decides which Libertex entity is available. The international site excludes several locations, including Russia, the United States, Japan, Brazil and the European Union, while the Cyprus entity serves the European Economic Area and Switzerland. In practical terms, the company name shown during registration determines the rules that will apply to the account.

Fees and Commissions

3.71/5

Spreads

Libertex uses floating spreads, so costs can change as liquidity and volatility move through the session. The weighted averages give a useful point of reference: 0.5 pips on EUR/USD, 0.55 pips on GBP/USD, 10 pips on gold and 0.76 points on the S&P 500 CFD. Around major news releases, actual spreads can still be wider.

Commission

Commission is less simple because there is no single rate for every market. The amount depends on the instrument, platform and account type, and as we checked, several Libertex pages quote rates from 0%. Libertex Invest lists 0% trading commission on real stock purchases, although the market spread still forms part of the overall cost.

Overnight Swap Fees

Positions left open after the daily rollover can pick up a swap charge. That matters most to swing traders and anyone holding CFDs for several days, because the cost changes by instrument and by trade direction. Intraday traders who close before the rollover will usually feel this fee less often.

Inactivity Fee

The inactivity rule is more important for occasional traders than for active ones. On European accounts, 180 calendar days without trading, open positions, deposits or withdrawals can trigger a monthly fee of 10 units of the account currency for USD, EUR, GBP and CHF accounts, or 50 PLN. International rules follow a different schedule.

Currency Conversion Fee

Currency conversion is another cost that can be easy to overlook. If the account currency does not match the quoted currency of the underlying asset, the Libertex platform can apply a margin adjustment of up to 0.3%. A separate conversion can also appear when money is deposited or withdrawn in another currency.

Deposit Fee

European clients do not pay a standard deposit fee under the published fee schedule. International payment routes are more varied, and some carry their own charge. One example is the 1% bank card deposit fee listed for most countries.

Withdrawal Fee

Withdrawals deserve a closer look because the fee depends heavily on the method. On the European schedule, PayPal is free, Skrill and Neteller cost 1%, card withdrawals cost 1 EUR, and SEPA or international bank wires cost 0.5%, with a 2 EUR minimum and 10 EUR maximum. Other Libertex entities can use different rates.

Deposits and Withdrawals

3.7/5

Deposit Methods

Libertex gives traders several ways to fund their accounts, including Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, SEPA and bank wire transfers. Sofort and Giropay are also available in some regions. The exact options depend on the trader’s location, but card and e-wallet payments are generally the most convenient choices when faster account funding is a priority.

Withdrawal Methods

Withdrawals generally follow a return-to-source approach. Once the account and payment method are verified, funds are normally sent back through an eligible method that was previously used to deposit money. This is common at regulated brokers and helps reduce payment fraud.

Deposit Processing Time

Deposit processing times at Libertex depend on the payment method. Card and e-wallet deposits are usually credited quickly, often within minutes after approval, although some transactions may take up to 48 hours. Bank wire transfers take longer and typically require 2 to 5 business days to reach the trading account.

Withdrawal Processing Time

Withdrawal times also vary by payment method. E-wallet withdrawals are generally the fastest and can be completed within 24 hours after approval. Card withdrawals usually take 1 to 5 business days, while some card transactions may require up to 7 business days. SEPA and international bank wire withdrawals typically take around 3 to 5 business days. Account or payment verification may cause additional delays.

Tradable Instruments

3.9/5

Forex Pairs

Forex is one of the more natural markets to trade here. MT4 lists more than 45 major, minor and exotic pairs. That gives currency traders a familiar starting point without forcing them into the proprietary platform.

Stocks

Stocks can be approached in two different ways. Traders who want short-term exposure can use stock CFDs and trade in either direction, while eligible European clients can use Libertex Invest to buy real shares with a stated 0% trading commission and market spreads. The choice really comes down to whether the goal is trading price moves or owning the underlying stock.

ETFs

ETF CFDs make more sense when the aim is diversification rather than a view on one company. A single position can follow a wider market, sector or theme, which is useful when the trading idea is broad rather than company-specific.

Cryptocurrencies

Crypto CFDs include names such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. These markets can move quickly even on a normal trading session, so a position that looks small at entry can become uncomfortable fast. Sensible position size and a clear Stop Loss matter more here than simply chasing the available leverage.

Commodities

The commodity list covers metals, agriculture, oil and gas. Gold will probably be the most familiar instrument for forex traders, especially because it often reacts to interest-rate expectations, US dollar strength and changes in market risk sentiment.

Indices

Index CFDs give traders a way to take a view on a whole market instead of one company. Libertex lists major benchmarks such as the S&P 500, Dow Jones, NASDAQ and DAX, which can be useful when the trade idea is tied to broad equity sentiment rather than a single earnings story.

Bonds

Bond CFDs add another macro market to the account. Their price action is closely linked to interest-rate expectations, inflation and central-bank policy, so they fit naturally with traders who already follow economic data and monetary-policy decisions.

Options

Options CFDs are available on the DAX, US SPX 500, Brent crude oil and gold. They are not quite as plug-and-play as a standard CFD because expiry, margin and the individual contract terms all matter. Traders new to options-style products should read the specification before placing the first trade.

Trading Conditions

Leverage changes from one market to another. EU retail limits are 1:30 on major forex pairs, 1:20 on minor and exotic forex pairs, 1:20 on gold, 1:10 on other commodities, 1:5 on stocks and ETFs, 1:20 on major indices, 1:10 on minor indices and 1:2 on cryptocurrencies.

Trading Platforms and Tools

4.65/5

Libertex Platform

The in-house Libertex platform is the easiest place to start. The layout keeps the trade ticket, portfolio, risk controls, news and economic information close together, without the busier feel of MetaTrader. For traders who mainly want to place and manage positions without building a highly customized workspace, it is the more approachable option.

MetaTrader 4

MT4 feels more familiar to traditional forex traders. Expert Advisors, custom indicators and hedging fit naturally into the workflow, and Libertex counts more than 100 analytical tools when built-in functions and plugins are included. Traders with an established MetaTrader routine will probably spend less time adjusting here than on the proprietary platform.

MetaTrader 5

MT5 is the better fit when the watchlist goes beyond forex. It keeps the automation and hedging flexibility of MT4, adds 12 more timeframes and gives the platform a broader multi-asset feel across forex, stocks, indices, commodities, crypto, ETFs and metals. The extra chart intervals are particularly handy for traders who switch between short-term and higher-timeframe analysis.

Copy Trading and Social Trading

Copy trading can shorten the learning curve for clients who prefer following an existing strategy instead of building one from scratch. The important part is remembering that copied trades also copy the provider's risk. A strong past record does not protect an account from a bad run, so allocation still needs to be controlled.

Automation, API and VPS

Anyone interested in automation will get more freedom from MetaTrader. The proprietary Libertex platform does not provide an external API, while MT4 and MT5 can run Expert Advisors and custom scripts. There is no Libertex-branded VPS in the package, although MT4 can connect to virtual hosting services.

Execution and Trading Styles

The trading rules are flexible enough for hedging, scalping and news trading. That does not remove execution risk. Around central-bank decisions or major data releases, price can move faster than an order is filled and slippage can appear. The published margin call level is 100%, with stop out at 50%.

Account Opening and Fees

3.58/5

Libertex Account

The Libertex account is designed for traders who prefer a simple and streamlined trading experience through the broker’s proprietary platform. Instead of traditional spreads, trading costs are mainly built around commissions that vary depending on the instrument and market conditions. This account gives access to leveraged CFD trading across forex, stocks, indices, commodities, cryptocurrencies and other markets.

MetaTrader 4 Account

The MetaTrader 4 account is suitable for traders who rely on classic forex trading tools and automated strategies. It provides access to Expert Advisors, custom indicators, hedging and a familiar charting environment. The minimum trade size starts from 0.01 lots, making it accessible for traders who prefer smaller position sizes while testing strategies.

MetaTrader 5 Account

The MetaTrader 5 account is built for traders looking for a more advanced multi-asset platform. Compared with MT4, it provides additional timeframes, improved market analysis tools and a broader structure for trading different asset classes. It is a practical choice for traders who want to combine manual analysis with automated trading features.

Libertex Invest Account

The Libertex Invest account focuses on long-term investing rather than leveraged CFD trading. It allows clients in supported regions to buy real shares, with 0% trading commission advertised for stock purchases while market spreads still apply. This account type is more suitable for investors who want direct ownership exposure to companies rather than short-term leveraged positions.

Demo Account

The demo account allows beginners and experienced traders to test the Libertex platform without risking real money. It provides virtual funds and access to trading conditions similar to a live environment, making it useful for learning order placement, understanding margin requirements and practicing new strategies before opening a real account.

Account Main use Key points
Libertex CFD trading Proprietary web and mobile platform
MT4 Market Forex and CFD trading 0.01 lot minimum trade size and Expert Advisor support
MT5 Market Multi-asset CFD trading More timeframes and broader market coverage
Libertex Invest Real stock investing 0% trading commission in supported European jurisdictions; market spreads apply

Professional status is available to qualifying clients in some regulated regions. The attraction is higher leverage, but there is a trade-off: moving out of retail classification can reduce some of the protections that ordinary retail clients receive. That makes professional status something to assess carefully rather than treat as an automatic upgrade.

How to Open an Account

  1. Register with an email address and password.
  2. Select the available platform and account currency.
  3. Enter the required personal and contact information.
  4. Complete KYC with a valid passport or national ID and proof of address if requested.
  5. Wait for verification approval.
  6. Choose a payment method and fund the account.
  7. Use the demo account or start live trading with controlled position size.

Customer Support

3.5/5

Customer support is available through live chat, email, phone and a dedicated help center. Traders can contact the support team for assistance with account registration, verification, deposits, withdrawals and platform related questions. Live chat is usually the quickest option, while email support is better suited for detailed requests that do not require an immediate response. The available support channels and working hours depend on the trader’s location and registered Libertex entity. International clients can access 24-hour live chat, while European clients can contact support during the published business hours. Support is available in several languages, including English, Dutch, French, German, Italian and Spanish, making the service accessible to a wide range of traders.

Market Research

4/5

Libertex provides traders with several market research resources designed to support daily trading decisions. The broker publishes market news, analysis articles, trading ideas and an economic calendar covering important events such as central bank meetings, inflation reports and employment data. These tools help traders follow the factors that can influence price movements across forex, commodities, indices, stocks and cryptocurrencies. The economic calendar is particularly useful for forex traders because major economic releases can create periods of increased volatility. Market reviews and analysis articles provide additional context by explaining current trends, technical levels and key developments across different asset classes. While these resources can help traders prepare their strategies, they should be combined with personal analysis and proper risk management.

Learn

4.5/5

Educational resources are for traders at different experience levels, from beginners learning the basics to more experienced traders looking to improve their market knowledge. The broker’s educational materials cover important topics such as forex trading, CFDs, technical analysis, risk management, trading strategies and how to use trading platforms. The education section includes beginner guides, tutorials, webinars, articles and practical explanations of trading concepts. These resources help new traders understand how orders work, how leverage affects positions and how to use tools such as Stop Loss and Take Profit orders. The demo account also works as a practical learning environment, allowing traders to practice strategies and become familiar with the platform before committing real funds.

Bonuses and Promotions

4.5/5

Deposit Bonus

There is no need to separate the international deposit promotion from the Welcome Bonus because they are effectively the same offer. The qualifying first deposit is what activates the bonus conditions described below.

No-Deposit Bonus

A permanent no-deposit cash bonus is not part of the normal account package. Libertex has, however, advertised a separate international sign-up campaign with free stock worth up to $200 and $10 toward a first cryptocurrency purchase using promo code GIFT. As with most broker promotions, availability depends on the campaign and location.

Welcome Bonus

The Welcome Bonus is more structured than the headline 100% match first suggests. Eligible international clients who use promo code WELCOME can receive a match on a first deposit from $100, up to a maximum bonus of $10,000. The amount is not immediately withdrawable: conversion is based on 10% of eligible trading commissions, released in 1% chunks over 30 days. Cryptocurrency trading commissions are excluded from the stated conversion rule.

Affiliate Program

The affiliate program is aimed at partners rather than ordinary trading clients. A qualified trader can generate a CPA payment of up to $1,200, and partners get tracking tools plus multilingual marketing material. Participation is restricted in some jurisdictions.

Loyalty Program

The international loyalty program is built around five levels: Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Exclusive. Moving up depends on trading volume or account balance, and the practical benefit is a larger commission discount at the higher tiers.

Status Commission discount Bonus limit
Silver No discount $0
Gold Up to 5% $50
Platinum Up to 10% $500
Diamond Up to 20% $5,000
Exclusive Up to 30% $10,000

Trading Contests

Trading contests are more of an occasional extra than a core account feature. Trader Battles is one example, with both demo and live formats used in different campaigns. Prize structures and entry rules change, so these contests are best treated as temporary promotions rather than part of the standard trading package.

Final Verdict

Libertex makes the most sense when the platform choice matches the trader. The proprietary terminal is easier to settle into, while MT4 and MT5 are better suited to people who already work with indicators, Expert Advisors and more detailed chart setups. Add the wide CFD range, copy trading and a demo account, and there is a decent amount of flexibility without forcing everyone into the same workflow.

There are still a few friction points. Some withdrawal methods carry fees, inactive accounts can be charged, and there is no dedicated Islamic CFD account. The bigger issue is the gap between European and international conditions, especially around leverage and promotions. On the higher-leverage international setup, poor position sizing can damage an account very quickly.

The overall picture is strongest for active CFD traders rather than investors who simply want a low-cost buy-and-hold account. Libertex gives traders useful platform choice and a broad market list, but the risk warning should not be treated as small print: the European site states that 83% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider.
