Trading forex and CFDs carries a high level of risk!

Overview

HF Markets, better known as HFM, has been operating since 2010. It is an STP forex and CFD broker with access to currencies, commodities, metals, energies, indices, stocks, cryptocurrencies, ETFs and bonds.

The broker covers a wide range of trading styles without making the account structure unnecessarily complicated. Beginners can start with the Cent or Premium account, while active traders may find the tighter pricing on Pro or Zero more suitable. Scalping, hedging, news trading and automated strategies are all allowed.

Platform choice is another strong point. MT4 remains available for traders who prefer the traditional MetaTrader setup, while MT5 brings deeper charting and broader market access. HFM WebTrader and the mobile app fill the gap for traders who want a simpler browser or mobile experience.

Pros

  • $0 entry point on several accounts
  • High leverage for eligible international clients
  • MT4, MT5 and proprietary platforms
  • Scalping, hedging and automated trading are allowed
  • Copy trading and VPS services are available

Cons

  • Inactivity fees begin after 6 months
  • Leverage limits differ by jurisdiction
  • The Zero account has a separate commission
  • External payment providers may charge fees
  • Promotions vary by country

How we test Brokers ?

Trust and Safety

4.7/5

HFM operates through several regulated companies rather than relying on a single license. The regulator attached to an account depends on where the client is registered.

Regulator Jurisdiction License or Reference Number
CySEC Cyprus 183/12
FCA United Kingdom 801701
DFSA Dubai F004885
FSCA South Africa 46632
FSA Seychelles SD015
CMA Kenya 155

From a trader's perspective, the important protections are straightforward. Client funds are held separately from company operating money, and negative balance protection can prevent an eligible account from ending with a debt after an extreme market move.

Clients under the Cyprus entity may also qualify for Investor Compensation Fund protection of up to €20,000. The margin call level is at 50% and the stop-out level at 20%.

Country restrictions matter just as much as regulation. HFM does not accept clients from every jurisdiction, so traders should confirm availability before starting the registration process.

Fees and Commissions

3.48/5

Spreads

HFM uses floating spreads, so the cost of entering a trade changes with market liquidity and volatility. That is normal for this type of pricing, but it means the spread seen during a quiet session may not be the same around a major economic release.

Premium starts from 1.4 pips, while Pro begins from 0.6 pips. Zero takes a different route, starting forex spreads from 0 pips and charging commission separately.

Commission

Cent, Premium and Pro keep the standard forex cost inside the spread. Zero is built for traders who prefer raw pricing and are comfortable calculating commission separately. The charge is $3 per side per standard forex lot, making a full opening and closing trade $6. For a standard 100-ounce gold trade on the Zero account, the round-turn commission is $10.

Deposit Fee

HFM does not normally add an internal fee when funds are deposited. The only extra cost may come from the bank, card issuer or payment service used for the transaction.

Withdrawal Fee

Standard withdrawal requests do not carry an internal broker fee either. External banking charges can still apply, and minimum withdrawal amounts depend on the payment method.

Inactivity Fee

The inactivity policy is more important for occasional traders than for active ones. Once an account has gone more than 6 months without financial activity, monthly charges begin.

Inactive Period Monthly Fee
6 to 12 months $5
1 to 2 years $10
2 to 3 years $20
More than 3 years The previous year's monthly fee rises by $10 until the balance reaches zero

Overnight Swap Fees

Positions held past the daily rollover can incur swap charges. Swap-free conditions are available on eligible accounts and instruments, but that should not be read as unlimited free holding time. Carry charges may apply once certain conditions are met.

Currency Conversion Fee

No separate standard internal conversion fee is charged for normal deposits and withdrawals. Traders funding an account in another currency should still check the exchange rate used by their bank or payment provider.

Deposits and Withdrawals

4.08/5

Deposit Methods

The funding range covers cards, electronic wallets, crypto and bank transfers. Available methods include Visa, Mastercard, Skrill, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tether, Wire Transfer, Fasapay and Neteller. The exact options shown in the Client Area depend on the client's country.

Withdrawal Methods

The withdrawal list follows the same main set of payment channels. HFM generally uses a return-to-source policy, which means funds may first need to be sent back through the method used for the original deposit.

Deposit Processing Time

Deposit speed depends on the payment method. Cards are usually processed within 10 minutes, while e-wallets and other supported electronic methods can be instant or take up to around 10 minutes. Bank transfers are much slower, typically taking 2 to 7 business days. For traders who want to fund an account and start trading quickly, cards and electronic payment methods are the more practical options.

Withdrawal Processing Time

Withdrawal times vary by payment method. Crypto and e-wallet withdrawals are generally the fastest, with requests usually processed within 24 hours. Card withdrawals and bank transfers take longer, typically between 2 and 10 business days. The final arrival time can also depend on the bank or payment provider, so funds may take additional time to reach the account after HFM has processed the request.

Tradable Instruments

2.88/5

Forex Pairs

Major, minor and other currency pairs are available with a minimum trade size of 0.01 lot. Eligible international clients can use leverage of up to 1:2000.

Commodities

Commodity CFDs give traders exposure to changes in global supply and demand without owning the physical asset. Both soft and hard commodities are part of the range, with margin requirements set by instrument.

Metals

Gold is one of the more important non-forex markets in the lineup. The weighted average spread on XAU/USD is 25 pips, although the actual cost changes with market conditions and account type.

Energies

Energy CFDs include markets such as crude oil. Traders can take positions in either direction, making the section useful during periods of strong moves in oil and energy prices.

Indices

Indices are a practical choice when the trading idea is about a whole market rather than one company. HFM covers major US, UK, European and Asian indices.

Cryptocurrencies

Crypto CFDs include major assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. Traders can follow price movements without holding the underlying coin in a wallet. Leverage on cryptocurrency CFDs can reach 1:50 under the applicable international conditions.

Stocks

Stock CFDs cover major international companies and can be traded in both directions. That gives traders the flexibility to react to strong earnings, weak guidance or broader market moves without buying the underlying shares.

ETFs

ETFs work well when the trading idea is focused on an entire sector or theme rather than one company. Through ETF CFDs, traders can take that broader view with a single instrument.

Bonds

Bond CFDs add another macro-focused market to the platform. They are most relevant when interest rates, inflation expectations or central bank policy are driving price action.

Trading Platforms and Tools

5/5

HFM WebTrader

WebTrader is the most convenient option for traders who want to work directly from a browser. There is nothing to install, and TradingView charting is built into the platform. More than 100 technical indicators, over 110 drawing tools and layouts with up to eight charts make it capable enough for serious chart analysis.

MetaTrader 4

MT4 remains the familiar choice for forex traders who already have indicators, templates or Expert Advisors built around the platform. It comes with nine chart timeframes, one-click trading and support for automated strategies.

MetaTrader 5

MT5 is the stronger option for traders who want more analytical room. It expands the charting setup to 21 timeframes and more than 80 indicators and analytical tools. The built-in economic calendar is also useful when planning trades around high-impact releases.

HFM App

The HFM App keeps account management and trading accessible away from a desktop. Prices can be monitored, orders placed and accounts managed from Android or iOS, which is enough for routine mobile trading.

Copy Trading

The Copy Trading service is built around Followers and Strategy Providers. Followers choose a provider and allocate capital to copy that trader's positions, while keeping control of their own account. Strategy Providers can earn performance-based compensation according to the program terms.

Algorithmic Trading and FIX API

MetaTrader users can run Expert Advisors for automated strategies. FIX API connectivity is aimed at a more advanced audience, particularly traders who need direct system integration or higher-volume execution workflows.

VPS Hosting

A VPS is most useful when an automated strategy needs to stay connected without depending on a home computer. HFM has three VPS tiers, with free access available to traders who meet the required deposit and monthly volume levels.

Package Monthly Price Net Deposit Requirement Monthly Trading Volume
Bronze $25 $400 2 standard lots
Silver $50 $8,000 8 standard lots
Gold $80 $15,000 15 standard lots

Account Opening and Fees

4.2/5

Cent Account

The Cent account is designed for beginners and traders who prefer smaller position sizes. It has a $0 minimum deposit, spreads from 1.4 pips and leverage up to 1:2000 for eligible clients. Forex trades do not carry a separate standard commission, making the pricing structure easy to understand.

Premium Account

The Premium account is a straightforward choice for general forex and CFD trading. It also starts from a $0 minimum deposit, with spreads from 1.4 pips and leverage up to 1:2000 where permitted. Standard forex trading costs are built into the spread rather than charged as a separate commission.

Pro Account

The Pro account is better suited to traders who want tighter spreads without switching to commission-based pricing. The minimum deposit is $100, while spreads start from 0.6 pips. Maximum leverage can reach 1:2000 for eligible clients, and there is no standard separate forex commission.

Zero Account

The Zero account is aimed at active traders who prefer raw spread pricing. Forex spreads start from 0 pips, while the commission is $3 per side per standard lot, or $6 for a complete opening and closing trade. The minimum deposit is $0, and leverage can reach 1:2000 where available.

InfinityX Account

InfinityX requires a minimum deposit of $500, with spreads starting from 0.3 pip. The account can provide unlimited leverage under applicable conditions and does not carry a standard separate forex commission. Because of the higher leverage potential, it is more suitable for experienced traders with strong risk management.

Account Minimum Deposit Spreads Maximum Leverage Forex Commission
Cent $0 From 1.4 pips Up to 1:2000 No commission
Premium $0 From 1.4 pips Up to 1:2000 No commission
Pro $100 From 0.6 pips Up to 1:2000 No commission
Zero $0 From 0 pips Up to 1:2000 $3 per side per lot
InfinityX $500 From 0.3 pips Unlimited under applicable conditions No commission

How to Open an Account

The registration process follows the usual steps expected from a regulated forex broker:

  1. Create an HFM Client Area.
  2. Choose an account type and trading platform.
  3. Enter the requested personal and financial information.
  4. Upload identification and proof of address.
  5. Wait for verification.
  6. Fund the approved account.
  7. Log in to the chosen platform and begin trading.

Customer Support

3.54/5

HFM customer support is available 24/5, which covers the full forex trading week. Traders can get help through live chat, phone or email, depending on how urgent the issue is.

Live chat is the quickest option for simple questions, with a typical response time of about 1 minute. Phone support usually takes around 1 to 2 minutes, while email responses are generally received within 2 to 8 hours.

The main support email is [email protected], and the international phone number is +44 203 097 85 71. Support is available in a wide range of languages, making the service more accessible to traders across different regions.

Market Research

4.5/5

HFM combines fundamental and technical research in a way that is practical for day-to-day trading. The research section covers market news, economic events, company earnings, sentiment, volatility and automated chart analysis.

The Economic Calendar helps traders keep track of major releases such as inflation data, employment figures and central bank decisions. Stock traders can use the Earnings Calendar to follow upcoming company results, while the News & Analysis section adds context around important market developments.

Advanced Insights looks at news flow, sentiment and volatility, which can be useful when market conditions are changing quickly. Autochartist focuses on the technical side by scanning charts for patterns and key price levels. Together, these tools give traders a balanced way to prepare for trades without relying on a single type of analysis.

Learn

4.5/5

The education section is more useful than a simple collection of beginner definitions. HFM mixes structured material with webinars, podcasts, tutorials and recorded sessions, giving traders several ways to work through the content.

There are more than 20 educational and tutorial videos, along with over 30 recorded forex videos in the reviewed resources. The subjects move from basic market concepts into strategy and trading psychology, which gives beginners a sensible learning path before taking on more complex topics.

Bonuses and Promotions

2.5/5

Deposit Bonus

Deposit bonuses are tied to selected countries and promotional periods rather than being a permanent benefit for every account. The important details are the eligibility rules, trading requirements and withdrawal conditions attached to the campaign.

No-Deposit Bonus

A standard global no-deposit bonus is not part of the reviewed international promotion range.

Welcome Bonus

Welcome incentives follow the same regional approach. Anyone opening an account mainly because of a promotion should read the terms carefully, especially the rules around turnover, bonus credit and withdrawals.

Loyalty Program

The Loyalty Program uses Trophy Road Points to reward eligible trading activity. The advertised prizes are unusually broad for a broker loyalty scheme, ranging from cash of up to $500,000 to travel, electronics and a supercar.

Trading Contests

Competitive traders have a few additional options. The Virtual to Real Demo Contest allows participation without risking deposited funds, while Traders Awards 2026 gives the top trader a $1,000 cash prize.

Affiliate Program

The partner program is aimed at people who refer traders to HFM. Revenue share can reach 60%, while applicable Copy Trading partner arrangements pay $6 per standard lot. Partner payouts start from $5.

Final Verdict

HF Markets gets the fundamentals right without forcing every client into the same trading setup. Beginners have low entry requirements, a demo environment and a Cent account, while more active traders can move toward tighter spreads, raw pricing, automation or VPS hosting.

The platform lineup is one of the strongest parts of the package. MT4 still works well for traditional forex setups, MT5 gives traders more analytical freedom, and WebTrader is a credible alternative for anyone who prefers TradingView-style charts in a browser. The mobile app rounds out the offering without trying to replace the desktop platforms entirely.

Costs are mostly easy to understand once the account type is chosen. Zero traders need to factor commission into every comparison, inactive accounts can attract monthly charges, and overnight positions may create swap or carry costs. None of these are unusual, but they matter when comparing the broker with lower-cost alternatives.
